Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Urogynecology

As fellowship-trained specialists in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, Chiara Ghetti, MD., MSc; Jerry Lowder, MD, MSc, Director; use their additional training and experience to help women through individualized evaluation and treatment for conditions that affect female pelvic organs. Disorders of the pelvic floor, such as pelvic organ prolapse, difficulty with urination or defecation, incontinence of urine or stool, and complications related to prior surgical procedures involving implanted mesh are actually quite common.  Drs. Ghetti and  Lowder approach these problems with a unique, multidisciplinary approach, to achieve the best possible outcomes for their patients.

Patients receive a comprehensive evaluation in one of the three office locations, where they have access to a full range of specialized testing including cystourethroscopy, multichannel urodynamics, anal manometry and pelvic floor EMG. The physicians and staff work together with the patient to develop a customized treatment plan tailored to individual goals.  This treatment plan employs a wide variety of non-surgical and surgical techniques, including specialized pelvic floor physiotherapy, minimally-invasive vaginal and laparoscopic surgery and sacral neuromodulation to address these complex pelvic floor conditions.

Drs. Jerry Lowder and Chiara Ghetti are instructing the next generation of obstetrician/gynecologist, practicing in their clinics in St. Louis, Drs. Ghetti and Lowder are dedicated to helping patients improve their quality of life through comprehensive care.
