The LGBTQ Health Care Conference is a two-day event designed for nurs es\, physicians\, physician assistants\, psychologists\, speech pathologist s\, social workers\, students\, trainees\, community members and other alli ed health providers who seek to understand the unique health considerations and barriers to health care in the LGBTQ population.
Attendees will learn how to provide respectful\, patient-centered\, culturally competent h ealth care by developing skills to establish rapport\, recognize barriers t o medical care\, offer LGBTQ patients competent primary care and/or referra ls to such care\, and identify the unique health risks in the LGBTQ populat ion.
Topics include safe spaces\; polyamory\; family planning\; case presentations\; sexual consent\, assault and domestic violence\; surgery\; gender diverse youth\; emergency care\; spiritual care\; and more.
Re gistration is open to everyone. Learners (students\, residents and fellows) can attend for free. Scholarships are available. The conference will be vi rtual this year due to COVID-19 precautions.
