X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html: <p>In the wake of the covid pandemic\, medica
l mistrust has amplified in the public consciousness. With many communities
experiencing a history of generational injustice\, implicit bias in provid
ers\, racially discordant care\, disparities in healthcare access\, and ina
dequate access to health education\, we understand that current and future
providers must work to promote awareness\, transparency and equitable actio
n for those we care for. With support of the WUSM Office of Diversity Progr
ams and the Office of Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion\, we are hosting a t
wo-part panel series on medical mistrust. The first panel will include pati
ents and patient facing healthcare workers that can speak to personal exper
iences of medical mistreatment and other sources of mistrust. The second pa
nel will feature community\, regional and institutional leaders who can spe
ak to initiatives that are planned or currently being implemented to addres
s sources of mistrust. Our goal with these panels is to provide transparenc
y and insight to community members into work being done to combat these iss
ues\, with the hope that this will contribute to trust building. Please see
