LaShonda is a Medical Secretary III and has been with us since April 2022. Her favorite part about her job is being multifunctional. “As the secretarial float I have to learn all the other scheduler and secretary job functions for when they’re not in office that day and/or week. I have learned a ton of new and useful job skills since coming on board.”
What do you do outside of work? family? hobbies?
I have 3 of the most well behaved, awesome, phenomenal kids you could ask for! Jada- 19 full time college student at CHICAGO STATE UNIVERSITY, Jade -17 & CJ-10. I’m a sneaker head, I love jazzy kicks. I’m ALWAYS hanging out with my huge family. We’re very tight knit. I play pool, roller skate, swim, travel & read.
What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
I am a self taught freelance makeup artist. I have my own business, BeatItUpByShonda, LLC. I specialize in full glam, strip eyelashes and everyday makeup looks.

What is the best advice you’ve received and who was it from?
“Always document everything”, Gail Buchanon, BJC. This is one that has really stuck with me since i started with BJC in 2016 and to this day I use it daily in my professional career.
