Portrait of Dr. Sarah England Unveiled

Sarah England, PhD, Alan A. and Edith L. Wolff Professor of Medicine, Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Director of the Center for Reproductive Health Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine, recently received distinctive recognition of her exceptional research accomplishments and service in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. An oil on linen portrait of Dr. England was unveiled and presented by Dineo Khabele, MD, Mitchell and Elaine Yanow Professor and Chair of the Department of Ob/Gyn, at a celebratory reception on October 30, 2023. The reception was attended by more than 50 of Dr. England’s associates, team members, friends, and family members.  

Dr. England has focused her reproductive sciences research career on ion channel function in the uterus during pregnancy and the role of circadian rhythms in preterm birth. She has published more than 100 primary research articles and reviews, spearheaded many important initiatives, and mentored numerous trainees and early-career scientists. Her distinguished experience as a teacher, principal investigator, committee member, and more has influenced countless others in academia and health policy. Learn more about the research of Dr. England at EnglandLab.wustl.edu.

The portrait of Dr. England will be on display in the Center for Outpatient Health building on the medical school campus alongside portraits of other notable Washington University clinicians and scientists from the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
