The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology residency and fellowship programs accept a limited number of visiting residents and fellows per academic year. Approval is granted on a case-by-case basis.

General Guidelines:

  • We are able to host a visiting trainee for a maximum of 30 days
  • We will only accept individuals in an active domestic residency or fellowship training program; we do not accept trainees from international programs at this time
  • Visiting trainees are not allowed to rotate with a program between March 1st and August 31st
  • Visitor requests will not be processed by the WashU GME Office between March 1st and August 31st
  • We will only accept trainees seeking a hands-on experience (no observerships)
  • All requests require approval of the WashU Program Director
  • We do not provide funding for travel and housing costs associated with the elective rotation

Required Documentation:

  • Missouri Medical License
  • BLS / ACLS Certification (program dependent)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • DEA (if applicable)
  • BNDD
  • Proof of Malpractice Coverage
  • ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)

NOTE – visiting trainee must have an active Missouri medical license and BNDD prior to submitting an elective rotation request to the WashU GME Office.

After initial approval for an elective rotation with one of our programs by the WashU program director, the onboarding process will take anywhere from four months (for individuals with an active Missouri medical license) to six months (for individuals without an active Missouri medical license). Our institution uses a specific form for the final Letter of Agreement. If the visiting trainee’s home institution requires a different form to be used, or makes edits to our standard form, this will require a minimum additional four months for a full legal review of the document by our institution.
