Hosted by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences (DBBS), which is a part of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
This is the next session in our on-going programming to celebrate Henrietta Lacks’s 100th birthday. Past events have included the history of Henrietta Lacks, race and eugenics, understanding medical mistrust from past to present, and ethics.
In this session we will discuss power and community change. We will hear from community leaders, including a representative from Arch City Defenders, who are involved in empowering individuals to use their power, position, and experiences to create community change and collaborations.
The goal of this session will provide a space to explore how St. Louis community organizations advocate for folks to reclaim their power, in addition to how the organization aims to create system-level changes. Please come ready to both listen and share with some of the organizations in our region that are doing this important work.
