Residency

Why did you choose WashU for your residency?
“One of my favorite mentors went to WashU for GYN Oncology fellowship. He was one of the best surgeons, patient advocates, and teachers I interacted with in medical school. I knew I wanted to train somewhere that could foster the qualities I saw in him, and WashU became my top choice. On interview day, I gathered that the residents and attendings were a family and treated each other with the utmost respect, and I wanted to be a part of that family! I know that WashU will prepare me for fellowship and a future in academic medicine.”

What are you looking forward to the most by being a resident here at WashU?
“I’ve dreamed of becoming an OB/GYN for a long time, so I am SO excited to begin my OB/GYN training to make my dream a reality! I am also thrilled to create lifelong friendships with my co-residents.”

What goals do you hope to accomplish during your residency?
“I want to become the best provider, patient advocate, and researcher for my future patients!”

What are your research interests?
“GYN Oncology, medical education, global health”

Personal

Hometown: Memphis, TN

What do you do outside of work?
“I’m a cat mom to Hermione and Stella (they rule our household). I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan (hence my cat’s name). Pure Barre is my happy place!”

What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
“I was on America’s Got Talent my senior year of highschool with my A Capella group!”

We know it’s early, but do you have any fellowship plans for after residency?
“I’m very interested in GYN Oncology! Those patients are some of the most empowering, strong women that I’ve ever had the privilege of taking care of. I’ve also thought about MIGs, Urogyn, and PAG as well. I love anything that’s GYN surgery heavy.”

What advice would you give medical students applying for a residency in OBGYN?

“Really do your research on a program before applying. I think it’s important to figure out the things that are most important to you in a residency program and try to match those ideals to where you apply. Remember that residency will mold you into the provider that you will become for your patients, so it’s important that your goals align with your program. I couples matched, so if you are in that position, it’s very important to have hard conversations (he’s a medicine resident at WashU/BJH) about your program choices with your partner. If you are considering fellowship, look at where residency alumni do post-graduation! Also, even if your interview is virtual, you will be able to do a vibe check on the program. Go with your gut when making your rank list!”
