After a thorough national search, Dr. Ali Ahmady has been chosen and accepted the role of Lab Director for WASHU/BJC Fertility and Reproductive Medicine Center.
Dr. Ahmady is a consummate academician and he comes to us from the University of Southern California. He is no stranger to the Midwest having spent time in Cleveland where he was the lab director there since 2015. Much of his recognition internationally comes from his work with make factor and ICSI.
He has published nationally, serving as a mentor for REI fellows and maintains committee appointments with the American Board of Bioanalysis (AAB) and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) practice committee where he recently served on the Task Force to update the ASRM’s guidance on Gamete and Embryo donation.
Dr. Ahmady has focused much of his recent interests in Regenerative medicine and stem cell biology chairing several interests groups and Task forces within ASRM over the last decade. He is excited to begin his transition to our unit and continue the legacy of embryologic and andrology excellence that our team has built.
The current lab operation is in a “sustaining success” position with excellent success rates and performance and he will be looking forward to learning our processes, providing new insights and working together with our team to help mentor, advise and collaborate as we prepare for the future.
