Dr. David Mutch Honored with WashU Medicine Alumni Achievement Award

WashU Medicine proudly announces David G. Mutch, MD, as the recipient of the 2025 WashU Medicine Alumni Achievement Award. This prestigious honor is awarded to a distinguished alum celebrating more than 25 years since graduation, recognizing exceptional accomplishments in the medical field, community impact, and enduring service to the university.

About Dr. David Mutch

A nationally recognized leader in gynecologic oncology, Dr. Mutch has dedicated his career to advancing the treatment and understanding of gynecologic cancers. After earning his medical degree from WashU Medicine in 1980, Dr. Mutch completed his residency at the university and a fellowship at Duke University before returning to Washington University to launch a career marked by excellence in patient care, research, and education.

Since joining the faculty in 1987, Dr. Mutch has held numerous leadership roles, including director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and vice chair of gynecology. He has authored over 460 scientific publications and secured major research funding, including a recent SPORE grant from the National Cancer Institute for endometrial cancer. A dedicated mentor, he has trained more than 50 fellows, many of whom now lead academic programs across the country.

In 2023, WashU Medicine established the David and Lynn Mutch Distinguished Chair in his honor—an enduring testament to his impact, made possible by a grateful patient’s generous gift.
