Failure is the greatest equalizer. It is in the rising that separates the excellent from the great.
My mom
Where did you grow up?
Audubon Iowa – a small farming town in southwest Iowa that is truly in the middle of nowhere.
What is your favorite part about your job?
I love the operative learning environment! It’s a space where we can restore an enhanced quality of life for our patients along with sharing skill, expertise, and decision-making with our learners. It is a place for impactful moments – both memorable and challenging – and therefore a space ripe for growth. I’m not done learning from my own cases and leaving each day with new knowledge keeps me coming back for more.
What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
I am a Pure Barre teacher, and I love taking and teaching the mind-body connection that is experienced in those classes – it’s an incredible physical and mental boost!
What do you do outside of work? family? hobbies?
I am grateful for every moment I can spend with my husband Chip and our three children, Thornton (college sophomore at Grinnell College), Belle and Emmi (both college freshmen at U of Iowa and Arkansas) plus our three dogs, Gibbs, Bud, and Leo. Playing cards, going to the Muny, cheering on the Blues, or just enjoying dinner together would be a perfect night for me.
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island? (excluding, food, water, & shelter)
1. Matches 2. A knife 3. A solar-powered iPhone loaded with albums by Taylor Swift 🙂
