Clinic Supervisor, Amber Richardson, (left) and Ronald Griffin, Clinical Operations Director, discuss the benefits of the new digital interpreter service for patients.

After more than a year in the making, the OBGYN department successfully launched a video (iPad) interpreter through LAMP services. After recognizing a need for improved processes, both from a patient and business facing aspect, Clinical Operations Director, Ronald Griffin, led the initiative to establish this improved service within the department.

“It’s great to have this service which fills a void while also showing our patients we value them”.

This investment will lead to higher patient satisfaction and offer more equitable care to patients in clinical settings. It’s a win-win for patients and providers. Patients benefit from a reliable, real-time connection with an interpreter who speaks their native language. This will also lower a barrier to care and allow providers to speak more candidly. The department of OBGYN is one of the first on campus to launch this video interpreter platform. Griffin, who is excited to see this initiative take flight, indicates, “it’s great to have this service which fills a void while also showing our patients we value them”.
