Obstetric and gynecology patients will soon benefit from expanded services at a new facility. A 12-story expansion of Barnes-Jewish and St. Louis Children’s hospitals – both located at Washington University Medical Center – will soon house our women and infants program.
The new Barnes-Jewish Hospital tower will have 18 labor and delivery rooms, 52 inpatient obstetrics beds, 12 women’s assessment rooms and three cesarean section (C-section) rooms. Labor and delivery will connect to an all-private neonatal intensive care unit in the St. Louis Children’s Hospital expansion.
The facility is expected to open in late 2017. For more information, visit the website for the Campus Renewal Project.
A vision unfolds
Clinicians, staff, patients and families are working hand in hand with the Washington University Medical Center Campus Renewal design team to transform the future of health care at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
The Campus Renewal vision – to create patient- and family-centered facilities designed to provide safe and efficient care; a calm, comfortable environment that promotes healing; clear destinations; and an environment that fosters medical discovery through teamwork – continues to inform every decision, from patient room and lobby design to parking and landscaping.
