Residency

Why did you choose WashU for your residency?
I was a medical student here at WashU, so I got to see all of the incredible opportunities and people here in the OBGYN department over the last five years. My family and I really put roots down in this city, so we weren’t ready to leave it all behind when the time came to rank residency programs! I knew that WashU would expose me to the full breadth of OBGYN and support me in achieving any career goals that I could possibly hope for.

What are you looking forward to the most by being a resident here at WashU?
Playing my part in creating a fun and supportive environment for my coworkers and patients! I’m especially looking forward to being an integral part of medical students’ learning experience in OBGYN.

What goals do you hope to accomplish during your residency?
I’m hoping to enjoy residency as much as possible, maintaining a positive outlook at work and maximizing my time off to maintain relationships and wellness. Professionally, I want to be prepared for a potential fellowship and soak up all the knowledge surrounding me!

What are your research interests?
Social drivers of health in pregnancy, substance use disorder in pregnancy, medical education (particularly professional identity formation and the use of humanities)

Heavily considering MFM or being a laborist.

What advice would you give medical students applying for a residency in OBGYN?
Follow your natural interests! There are so many different aspects of OBGYN that you can focus on through your research, leadership, and community service, so explore them all and delve into whatever excites you most, even if it doesn’t seem directly related to the field. Your passion will be contagious!
