Residency

Why did you choose WashU for your residency?
When I was looking for a place to train, I wanted somewhere with kind people, rigorous academic training, a focus on medical education, and proximity to family. WashU has everything I was looking for, and I feel so fortunate to be training here. I was so impressed by the program and people during the open house and my interview day!

What are you looking forward to the most by being a resident here at WashU?
Bonding with my co-residents and learning from exceptional physician mentors!

What goals do you hope to accomplish during your residency?
I hope to become an extremely competent surgeon and improve my teaching and coaching skills. I also want to continue learning how to advocate for patients in an effective way both in the hospital and at the policy level.

What are your research interests?
Medical education, resident and physician wellness, and health policy

What do you do outside of work?
I love to practice yoga, read books, and try new restaurants. During medical school, I taught weekly yoga classes and still enjoy playing around with sequencing and learning about the practice. My partner and I share a sweet kitty named Olive who keeps us busy, too!

What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
I’m a Yelp Elite!

We know it’s early, but do you have any fellowship plans for after residency?
I’m excited to explore all of the different fellowship opportunities during residency. Currently, I’m really looking forward to the REI and Gyn Onc rotations!

What advice would you give medical students applying for a residency in OBGYN?
Congratulations on choosing the coolest specialty! As you prepare to apply, reflect on your values and how they align with different programs across the country. This stage in your career will shape who you are as a young attending, so be genuine to who you are in your goals and how you represent yourself on your application. Make a note of how you feel during the interview day to look back on when making your rank list. Reach out to current residents to learn more about the details of training at programs you’re strongly interested in. If you have a program that you love, let them know!
