Residency

Why did you choose WashU for your residency?
I was a visiting student on the Gyn Onc service at WashU during my fourth year of medical school, and it ended up being my favorite month of all of medical school. I loved the meaningful connections I was able to form with patients, and I was genuinely impressed by the collaborative and supportive dynamic among the residents. Teaching was prioritized, and I appreciated being both challenged and supported. I knew then that this was the kind of environment I wanted to train in for residency.

What are you looking forward to the most by being a resident here at WashU?
I’m most excited to get to know my new WashU family—my co-residents, attendings, and the entire care team. It might sound simple, but I’m genuinely looking forward to learning the medicine and developing the hands-on skills that will shape me into the best OBGYN I can be. We’ve all worked so hard to get to this point, and I feel incredibly grateful to be training at such a strong, supportive program.

What goals do you hope to accomplish during your residency?
Born and raised on the West Coast, I’m excited to live in a new part of the country, immerse myself in a different culture, and become part of a new community. I hope this experience will broaden my perspective and help me grow into a more well-rounded, empathetic physician—someone who can provide unbiased, compassionate care to a diverse patient population. I’m also eager to become a technically skilled and confident surgeon, capable of offering patients the highest standard of care across all aspects of OBGYN.

What are your research interests?
Social determinants of health, barriers to care, medical education, gynecologic oncology, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

What do you do outside of work?
I love spending time outside—whether that’s running, hiking, skiing, or heading to the dog park with my husband and our labradoodle, Rory. I also really enjoy exploring new food spots and discovering new places with friends.

What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
I spent a year volunteering as a 4th-grade teacher on a rural island in Fiji.

We know it’s early, but do you have any fellowship plans for after residency?
I’m keeping an open mind, but I absolutely love being in the operating room—so I’m currently leaning toward Gyn Onc or MIGS.

What advice would you give medical students applying for a residency in OBGYN?
When you show up, focus on being the absolute best version of yourself. Don’t try to be someone you’re not, and don’t waste energy comparing yourself to your peers. You bring something uniquely valuable to the table—embrace that. Authenticity goes a long way, both in interviews and in residency.
