Dr. Aileen Portugal, REI Clinical Fellow, was recently accepted to participate in the RFDI this academic year, a BJC/WashU/SLCH consortium initiative to advance health equity. Congratulations, Dr. Portugal!
Established in 2006 by the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation, the Residents and Fellows Diversity Initiative (RFDI) focuses on promoting a diverse and inclusive environment within our community to better advance health equity in the communities we serve. The goal of the program is to develop physicians into leaders who have the knowledge, commitment, and passion to engage in and advocate for inclusive and intentional practices.
Residents and fellows accepted will participate in a program designed to provide them with education related to DEI in healthcare, increase their sense of belonging within WUMC, while also fostering equitable engagement with the St. Louis community. The end of the program will culminate in residents and fellows presenting a capstone project related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
