WashU OBGYN Expands Regional Services to Carbondale, Illinois: Comprehensive Care for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Fertility & Reproductive Medicine Now Available

Carbondale, IL—WashU Medicine OBGYN is pleased to announce the expansion of services to Carbondale, Illinois. The new regional facility aims to provide exceptional care in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) and Fertility & Reproductive Medicine, ensuring that residents in the surrounding areas have access to high-quality, specialized medical services close to home.

Expansive Ultrasound Services for All Needs

The Carbondale location offers advanced ultrasound services for patients aged 12 and above, catering to various gynecological and obstetric needs. These services include High Risk Ultrasounds, for pregnancies with a higher risk of complications which involve more frequent and detailed scans to monitor the health and development of the fetus closely; Low Risk Ultrasounds which are standard ultrasounds are typically performed during key stages of pregnancy; and GYN Ultrasounds to evaluate and monitor various gynecological conditions such as pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, ovarian cysts, fibroids, and more for patients starting at age 12.

Virtual Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Visits

In addition to in-person ultrasounds, the Carbondale facility will offer Virtual MFM Visits. These telehealth appointments allow patients, especially those with high-risk pregnancies, to consult with specialists remotely. Through the use of advanced telemedicine technology, patients can receive assessments, second opinions, test result discussions, and comprehensive care management without the need for an in-person visit.

Fertility & Reproductive Medicine

WashU OB/GYN’s new location will also provide services for those seeking assistance with fertility and reproductive health issues. Fertility services at the Carbondale facility include Remote Monitoring and Labs. Offering the option of these remote services to patients in the region cuts down on travel, time off work and the cost associated with both.

“We are thrilled to extend our expert care to Carbondale and the surrounding communities,” said Monica Anderson, Clinical Operation’s Director, WashU OBGYN. “Our goal is to make high-quality maternal-fetal and reproductive medicine accessible to more families, ensuring that every patient receives the thorough and compassionate care they deserve.”

The new Carbondale facility aims to provide a seamless blend of cutting-edge technology and expert clinical care, reinforcing WashU OBGYN’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of all patients.
