WashU Medicine OBGYN Launches New NIH-Funded Grant in Women’s Reproductive Health

Congratulations to multi-Principal Investigators, Dineo Khabele, MD, and Sarah K. England, PhD, in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at WashU Medicine, for recently receiving a Women’s Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) grant from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The K12 grant project is called “WashU-WRHR; Gateway to Improving Women’s Reproductive Health” and will receive funding of $340,200 in the first year.

“Further research is needed to solve the complex health challenges women face throughout their lifetimes,” states Nandini Raghuraman, MD, MSCI, Research Director of the WashU-WRHR. “The physician-scientists we train in this program will be equipped with skills and resources that take them to new heights in women’s reproductive health research.”

The WashU-WRHR will support obstetrician-gynecologists who have recently completed clinical training and are seeking to enhance their research expertise in women’s reproductive health. Scholars accepted into the WashU-WRHR program will be mentored by renowned experts, engage in advanced coursework, and design research projects focused on three core content areas: 1) Pregnancy and pregnancy complications, 2) Gynecologic cancer, and 3) Benign gynecology and reproductive health.
