WashU Medicine OBGYN Ultrasound now offering first trimester anatomy screening to select high risk patients

As an expansion of our services to better meet your needs and the needs of your patients, we are now able to offer first trimester anatomy screening to select high risk patients. This early anatomy scan protocol can help bring reassurance for those at highest risk of complications or can allow earlier detection and counseling should issues be found. This option is now open for women in the following categories:   Previous child with anomaly, known or suspected anomaly this pregnancy, AMA, preexisting diabetes, IVF, multiples, teratogen exposure, enlarged nuchal translucency, positive screening test, maternal BMI >35, placenta previa or cesarean scar ectopic.

It is ordered via our usual referral sheet order for detailed ultrasound making sure to put in the comments that you are requesting this scan between 12+0 and 13+6 weeks gestation.

The usual detailed ultrasound will still be indicated at around 20 weeks depending on the findings.
