WashU Medicine’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology participated in the Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR) 59th Annual Meeting in Indianapolis, July 19-22. Congratulations to our faculty and trainees on an outstanding showing and for successfully connecting with leaders in the field!
- Farners Amargant i Riera, PhD, spoke on “How Mechanical Forces Shape Follicle Development and Ovarian Aging” during the Oocyte Biology Session and received the Janice Bahr Junior Scientist Travel Award.
- Mahima Marichetty, an inaugural student in the department’s Master of Science in Reproductive Sciences (MSRS) program, presented research titled “Cortical Biomechanics of Human Germinal Vesicle Oocytes May Predict In Vitro Maturation Potential” in a poster session. Mahima is conducting her thesis research in the lab of Dr. Amargant i Riera.
- Sara Pietroforte, PhD, (Amargant i Riera lab) presented research titled “High-Resolution Multiscale Mapping of the Mouse Ovary Reveals Mechanical, Structural, and Functional Differences Across Age and Between Contralateral Ovaries.”
- Sharvari Deshpande, PhD, (Amargant i Riera lab) presented research titled “Type 1 Diabetes Impairs Ovarian Function by Altering the Ovarian Mechanical Environment in Mice.”
- Yasuko Arimura (Amargant i Riera lab) presented research titled “Ovarian Aging Phenotypes Differ in Genetically Diverse Mouse Strains.”
- Sarah England, PhD, was a moderator of the session titled “From Immune Modulation to Labor Onset: Mapping the Path to Parturition.”
