The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is pleased to announce that Christine Jackson, DO, MPH, Assistant Professor in the Division of Family Planning, and Alyssa Kosturakis, MD, MS, Assistant Professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and CRepHS, have been selected as WashU-Women’s Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) Scholars, effective September 1 and October 1, respectively.

The WashU-WRHR program, supported through an NIH NICHD-funded K12 award, provides research training, mentorship, career development, and interdisciplinary collaboration opportunities for early-career OB/GYN physician-scientists committed to advancing women’s reproductive health.

As a WRHR Scholar, Dr. Jackson will lead a research project focused on Early Pregnancy Loss (EPL) care options for rural Missourians. Her work aims to expand understanding of the challenges patients face when seeking EPL care and identify strategies to improve access to patient-centered reproductive health services across Missouri.

Dr. Kosturakis’ research through the WRHR will investigate hormone-driven immune programming in early pregnancy. Findings from her research may inform selection of embryo transfer protocols and identify immune biomarkers predictive of placental dysfunction, advancing precision approaches to improve pregnancy safety in the growing number of women undergoing ART.

The WashU-WRHR program is led by multi-Principal Investigators, Dineo Khabele, MD, and Sarah K. England, PhD, and Research Director Toni Frolova, MD, PhD.
