Fellow and Post-Doc Clinical Research Retreat

Each spring, our clinical fellows and post-docs come together for a department-sponsored research retreat. During this all-day event, faculty and departmental research staff cover key topics to help support our fellows in their research endeavors. Topics covered in recent years include: Specific Aims Workshop, How to Review Manuscripts for Journals, Creating and Maintaining an Effective Mentor-Mentee Relationship, Obtaining Funding for Your Projects, as well as faculty panels on a range of research-related subjects.

Fellowship Development Series

In addition to Departmental Grand Rounds, Professional Development Series and program-specific didactics, fellows from all six of our clinical training programs participate in 5-6 Fellowship Development Series sessions per academic year. These sessions are designed to help support our fellows in their current training and into practice. Sessions provided in recent years include: Contract Negotiation, Risk Management, Fellows as Educators, and more.

Cadaver Lab

Fellows within our CFP, MIGS, REI and Urogyn training programs participate in a laparoscopic cadaver lab annually, while our Gyn Onc fellows complete an open cadaver lab. These sessions take place in the University’s WISE Lab and provide our fellows the opportunity to practice key procedures with the instruction and guidance of our faculty.

Program Director Meetings

Program Directors across our six clinical fellowship programs come together every other month to discuss fellowship-related tasks and projects. These meetings provide an avenue for our program directors to collaborate and brainstorm program enhancements to best support our fellows and the learning environment. Often, the Residency Program Director attends to expand this collaboration across graduate medical education levels within our department.
