Celebrating Innovation at the 39th Annual Rothman Research Day

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 39th Annual Rothman Research Day, a proud tradition that highlights the dedication, innovation, and scholarly excellence of our residents, fellows, and basic science researchers.

Each year, this event brings our community together to showcase the impactful research being conducted across a wide range of disciplines. We are incredibly proud of all the presenters who shared their hard work and discoveries, and we look forward to seeing how their contributions continue to advance the field.

We were honored to welcome Shannon Westin, MD, MPH, Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, as our keynote speaker. Dr. Westin delivered an insightful presentation on “Conservative Treatment of Early Endometrial Neoplasia: Where Are We Now, and Where Are We Going?”

Congrats to our Rothman Awardees!

With the strong tradition of biomedical research at Washington University, we integrate research training throughout the residency help our residents master basic concepts of research. At the beginning of the PGY-2 year, residents attend a dedicated day-long seminar focused on research methodology. Working with a faculty mentor, all residents complete a research project that culminates with a presentation at the Rothman Research Day. Participation is required by the end of the fourth year of residency, but all residents are invited to participate each year. The experience provides residents an understanding of how to evaluate good research in medical literature and utilize it in their subsequent careers.
